The WS Aware Workplace Monitor Standard Remotes from SCS provides a comprehensive monitoring solution for workplace safety in ESD protection zones. This device is specifically designed to continuously monitor the proper grounding of two workplaces. It checks the grounding connections of users, tools, and workplace surfaces and detects EMI events at the grounding terminals. Monitoring is conducted according to the standards ANSI 6.1 and ANSI/ESDA S20.20, ensuring high reliability in compliance with safety standards.
The monitor is equipped with a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and allows for event logging via a Facility Monitoring System (FMS) or an optional digital MODBUS interface for networking over an Ethernet network. The impedance of two low-resistance (e.g., tools) and two high-resistance (e.g., table mats) grounding connections is continuously monitored. Additionally, the device offers a "Big Brother" feature, which detects the presence of a person at the workplace using a photo sensor and triggers an alarm if proper grounding is not established.
Alarm thresholds for monitoring are adjustable, and exceedances are indicated by colored LEDs (green for OK, red for alarm, and yellow flashing for EMI voltage). An acoustic alarm is also available and can be disabled if necessary. The technical specifications include dimensions of 81 mm x 32 mm x 57 mm, a weight of 140 g, and an operating temperature range of -37 to 63 °C. The recommended calibration interval is 12 months. The monitor comes with two remote terminals (CTA242) that enable effective monitoring of wristbands (Operator and Visitor).
