Power-saving, robust and slim water pump pliers - full torque on round parts and nuts
The Knipex Alligator holds on to pipes and nuts under load by itself after being pressed against them. This self-clamping effect is possible thanks to the special gripping jaw geometry developed by Knipex. The user does not have to press the handles together, but can convert all his force directly into torque. This feature is particularly useful when loosening tight screw connections.
Compact design - large gripping capacity
As compact as the pliers are, the reachable gripping widths are surprisingly large thanks to the 9-stage ratchet adjustment: round parts up to 50 mm (2 inches) and nuts up to 46 mm, which is 30 % more than with standard water pump pliers of the same size. With the anti-slip multi-component handles insulating up to 1000 volts, the Knipex Alligator 88 06 250 is ideal for electricians working on electrical systems and - with the appropriate special training - even on live parts.
Sturdy and wear-resistant - even for outdoor use thanks to chrome plating
For professional use, the Knipex Alligator's box joint with its double guide offers very high stability. The teeth of the gripping surfaces are induction-hardened to approx. 61 HRC. This guarantees a particularly long tool life with a consistently “snappy” grip on the workpiece. The Knipex Alligator is robustly built, easy to clean and therefore also an ideal tool for outdoor work. In the 88 06 250 version, the Knipex Alligator is chrome-plated. The chrome plating protects the pliers from rust if, for example, they are left permanently in the tradesman's vehicle, where condensation can occur due to changing temperatures. In accordance with IEC 60900 (DIN EN 60900), they are suitable for work on live parts up to 1000 V - subject to the necessary approval of the fitter.
Knipex Alligator: many production steps for high tool quality
We forge the Knipex Alligator from chrome vanadium steel and use a multi-stage hardening process to give it the optimum balance of hardness and toughness. This makes them highly resilient. For a permanently secure “bite” on the workpiece, we also harden the gripping teeth to a hardness of approx. 61 HRC using high-frequency current.
Professional users expect tool quality that will last for many years of hard use. We develop and manufacture our pliers for the most demanding users imaginable: tradesmen. Every pair of Knipex pliers is manufactured to the highest standards from the most suitable materials. A purchase for many years of safe and reliable work.
